wrfarley: Here
are some lines from the series (not too easy, not too hard).
Name the episode and the character who says them:
1. "Better a million of those guys than Superman!"
2. "By all means, Jim, and shut the door as you go out,
please."
3. "Hello down there."
4. "I might have to do a little flyin' tonight."
5. "Fire me. Loudly, firmly and lay it on thick."
6. "The resemblance is truly frightening - I mean,
remarkable."
7. "That's a honey of a fire."
wr, the answers are:
1 - Eddie, “The Magic Secret”
2 - Bet-A-Million Butler, “The Human Bomb”
3 - Sir Arthur, “The Last Knight”
4 - Dexter Brown, “The Unlucky Number”
5 - Clark Kent, “Clark Kent, Outlaw”
6 - Clark Kent, “Peril In Paris”
7 - Nick Marone, “Crime Wave”
Thank you for playing Stump The Chump!
wr, right back at ya!
1 - You’ll have to be more explicit!
2 - Great Caesar’s Ghost! (Other than Perry White)
3 - You need my help?
4 - I have nothing to say!
5 - It’s more than you deserve.
6 - You can credit him with an assist.
7 - I intend to prove that Clark Kent is actually Superman!
8 - Me? In that outfit!
9 - How about a game of chess?
Mister =X=
I missed two. Maybe someone will finish it
1. You'll have to be more explicit!" Superman,
"The Human Bomb"
2. "Great Caesar's Ghost!" Jimmy Olsen, "Jimmy
Olsen, Boy Editor"
3. "You need my help?" Lt. Hanes, "The Haunted
Lighthouse"
4. "I have nothing to say!" I know who, but
can't figure the episode.
5. "It's more than you deserve." Superman, "The
Unknown People"
6. "You can credit him with an assist." I know
who, but can't remember the episode.
7. "I intend to prove that Clark Kent is
actually Superman!" Burt Burnside, "Shot in the
Dark"
8. "Me? In that outfit!" Perry White, "The
Secret of Superman"
9. "How about a game of chess?" Sir Gawain, "The
Last Knight"
wr, I decided
to double-check, and the exact quote for
question 9 should read "What about a game of
chess?", and the correct answer is Sir Lancelot,
played by Pierre Watkin.
wr, here are
the ones you missed:
2 - "Great Caesar's Ghost!" Lois Lane "Great
Caesar's Ghost"
4 - "I have nothing to say!" Karl Wagner "The
Mind Machine"
6 - "You can credit him with an assist." Clark
Kent "Double Trouble"
Thank you for playing Stump the Chump!
Mister =X=
Name the character
and episode relating to the following quotes:
(The winner, the first answering all seven
correctly, will receive a copy of my Previews
disc.)
1 - We'd all be dead by now, if it hadn't been
for Superman!
2 - Mmmm, Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
3 - I'll be there!
4 - Don't bleat or I'll kill you!
5 - Oh, a little artificial persuasion.
6 - It's a good thing he didn't have to depend
on you to help him!
7 - You're the big butter and egg man from down
East, ain't ya?
Mister =X=
Anonymous #5: Superman to Inspector Henderson -
"Czar of the Underworld"
Billl:
1 - We'd all be dead by now, if
it hadn't been for Superman! --Doc Jessup, "The
Deserted Village"
2 - Mmmm, Six of one, half a dozen of the other.
--Clark, "The Secret of Superman"
That's all I got!
--Any one have the others?
Steven Kirk: Por Favor, Seńor
Chump...You tell me, is this TOO minutiae? With all this talk of
buildings housing great metropolitan newspapers, how many different
Daily Planet signs have we seen on the front of the building?
Mister X: Steven, I think you’ve posed an excellent
question!
Only one sign was used for the Daily Planet
entrance in 1951, and we see it in many, many episodes. Below is a shot
of it from SUPERMAN ON EARTH. Also in 1951, we catch a glimpse of the
Metropolis Daily Planet Delivery Entrance sign. Whether or not the
entrance is in front of the building is anybody’s guess. The delivery
entrance sign is from CRIME WAVE.
A new sign was fabricated for the 1953 season, or
at least a new background surface was used, and shown all season. The
shot below is from SHOT IN THE DARK.
To my knowledge, the sign disappeared for the 1954
season, and didn’t reappear until the last episode of the 1955 season in
THE JOLLY ROGER.
The 1955 sign was used repeatedly in 1956, but it
was hung on a different wall. The shot below is from MR. ZERO. A totally
different sign was used in 1957, switching from an Art Deco font to Old
English.
Below we see the two 1957 signs, from THE PERILS OF
SUPERMAN.

Name a color episode where a shot from a black and white episode
is re-cycled for use.
Mister X : You’re
referring, no doubt, to PERIL BY SEA, in which Superman dives into the
ocean to subdue Ace Miller’s submarine. The footage was recycled from
THE GOLDEN VULTURE. Thank you for playing “Stump the Chump”!
Pete: In season one they used a building other than
L.A. City Hall to represent the Daily Planet. Can you name the building?
Mister X: 1951 Daily
Planet Building: In 1951, the building located at 5225 Wilshire Blvd. in
Los Angeles was used to represent the Daily Planet Building. It
currently has a Samsung sign atop it. In 1952 an advertising sign was
added to it, making it unusable as the Daily Planet, so Los Angeles City
Hall was used instead. Michael Hayde's blog has the story in detail.
Thank you for playing "Stump the Chump"!
Steven Kirk: My dear Mister X, Can you name us an
episode where we watch Superman leap out of the storeroom window at the
Daily Planet from the outside? Don't fail me, X!
Mister X: My dear
Steve, A jpeg is worth a thousand words, such as this one from “The
Phantom Ring”! Thank you for playing “Stump the Chump”!

Pete: Mr .X, name 19 episodes of the Adventures of
Superman in which some member of the animal kingdom (including fish or
fowl) appears.
Here’s my list of nineteen episodes in which animals made an appearance:
Superman on
Earth
The Haunted
Lighthouse
The Monkey
Mystery
The
Deserted Village
Ghost Wolf
The Unknown
People Part I
The Unknown
People Part II
The Dog Who
Knew Superman

The Lucky
Cat
Olsen's
Millions
Flight to
the North
Joey
The Phantom
Ring
The Prince
Albert Coat
The Stolen
Elephant
The Brainy
Burro
Pete: Correct. We have a winner.... I have nothing
to give you. Should have made it 21. Remembered all that glitters (the
super mouse) and Lady in Black (Thomas the cat)
Mister X: Pete, Since
this is trivia, it's only fair to mention that the cat in "Lady in
Black" was named Timothy! "His name is Timothy. Best mouse catcher is
the business, provided your in the business of catching mouses!"
Mark: I’ve been watching Smallville since the
start, and have really enjoyed it! Last week’s episode has Lex and Lana
getting married. Lana discovers that Clark has superpowers. To date now:
Chloi, Lex's father, and now "Lana" knows of Clarks powers. Never mind
some villains and others that Clarks has met throughout the season know
his secret). Soooo…Mr. X. How many people thru the 104 Adventures of
Superman episodes know of Clark Kent’s powers?
Mister X: Mark, Here’s
my list of people who knew of Clark Kent’s superpowers (if even for a
short time):
Superman on
Earth - Eben and Sara Kent
The Secret
of Superman – Dr. Ort, Lois Lane (even though she later forgot)
The Stolen
Costume – Johnny Simms (T-Ball), Connie and Ace
Shot in the
Dark – Burt Burnside
The Dog Who
Knew Superman – Corky
Jimmy the
Kid – Kid Collins
The Wedding
of Superman – Lois Lane, subconsciously
The Big
Forget – Perry White, Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, Professor Pepperwinkle,
Muggsy Maples and Knuckles (anti-memory vapor made them forget)
The Brainy
Burro - Carmelita
The Perils
of Superman – The ringleader in the lead mask and his henchman
And of
course, Clark Kent himself
Counting Lois Lane only once, by my count that
makes nineteen. Mark, if I’m wrong, forgetfulness of some characters
aside, you’ve stumped the chump. Thank you for playing!
More to Come!

Mister X : Today’s
TAOS Trivial Trivia: In all 104 episodes of the Adventures of Superman,
we hear at least once the iconic theme music in the episode proper, with
a single exception. Today’s trivial trivia question, name the episode.
Gary L: FIVE MINUTES TO DOOM!
Mister X: Today’s TAOS Trivial Trivia question: Name ten episodes
in which we see Clark Kent without his glasses, instances when he takes
off his glasses to change to Superman are excepted.
Alfred: Mr.
X, please rate these:
Superman on
Earth
Five
Minutes to Doom
Panic in
The Sky
The Golden
Vulture
The Big
Freeze
The Jolly
Roger
The Clown
Who Cried
Around The
World with Superman
Ghost Wolf
The Secret
of Superman
Mister X:
1. King for
a Day
2. Olsen's Millions
3. Jimmy The Kid
4. The Talkative Dummy
5. The Wedding of Superman
6. The Man Who Could Read Minds
Mister X: Today’s TAOS Trivial Trivia
question comes courtesy of Pete. Name four episodes in which we see a
Superman costume not worn by Superman.
Luigi
Dinelli
1. Jimmy
The Kid
2. The
Stolen Costume
3. Panic In
The Sky
4. The Face
& The Voice
We "see"
the Costumes...they're just not worn by Superman.
Mister X: Today’s TAOS
Trivial Trivia Question: Name an episode of TAOS that featured seven or
more supporting actors, all of whom appeared in at least one other
episode of TAOS. Also, name said actors and another episode in which
they appeared.
Mike B: Redux. Mister X - Its a pretty hard
exercise when Myron Healey is actually credited in the episode but does
not appear! But I watched it and you are right!
I might suggest another episode, but have no
confidence in it this time given the 'Myron' experience. That episode is
Jet Ace, and includes Larry Blake (Secret of Superman), Lane Bradford
(Test of a Warrior) Jim Hayward (Deadly Rock) Selmer Jackson (Double
Trouble) Richard Reeves (No Holds Barred) Ric Roman (Deadly Rock) and
Sam Balter (Superman in Exile). Whew!
Mister X: Today's TAOS
Trivial Trivia Question is: Name three episodes in which the plot
revolves around counterfeiting. As usual, past winners and certain
individuals whose given names begin with "C" are ineligible! My thanks
to Jody McGhee for suggesting this question. (it didn't Stump the Chump
either!)
Wrfarley:
Too easy!
"The
Birthday Letter"
"Perry
White's Scoop"
"The Golden
Vulture"
We also
have the Confederate money in "The Prince Albert Coat."
Mister X: Today’s
question is posed with the sincere wish that Ginny wins the prize! This
actor appeared in four TAOS episodes, and in three of them saw
incontrovertible proof that Clark Kent was in fact Superman. Who is he?
ginny moore
Oh lord, you're making me rock with laughter. I
hadn't planned on doing any worthwhile thinking today, now I actually
have to pull-start my head and get the neurons firing...I can't let such
good intentions go unappreciated...I want to say Phillips Tead, but I
can only think of one ep where he sees Superman's ID definitely.
The same with the guy who played Ace in The Stolen
Costume...I can only think of one ep that satisfies the question...I'm
going to go with John Eldredge. Am I close?
Mister X: Yet another
Taos trivial Trivia Question: In many episodes we see Clark Kent running
at top speed to find a secluded place in order to change to Superman.
Today’s Trivial Trivia question, name three episodes in which Clark is
seen running full tilt, but not for the purpose of changing to Superman?
(My thanks to Jody McGhee for the suggestion.)
PETE
THE STOLEN
COSTUME
THE MACHINE
THAT CAN PLOT CRIMES
