Larry Thomas Ward

By Lou Koza

Larry Thomas Ward. Bam, without any warning it is announced a book called Truth, Justice and the American Way: The Life & Times of Noel Neill, The Original Lois Lane would be immediately available and the rest is history. History is a common word to describe what catches Larry’s attention.  His most recent book, Canon City Colorado – Every Picture Tells a Story is an amazing look at the beginnings and growth of a small town, in the heart of the USA.  It would seem natural for Larry to appreciate little towns, having grown up himself in the farmlands of Maryland and Virginia, finally settling in Canon City, Colorado. Larry also has an appreciation for little ladies, one most in particular, Noel Neill.

In real life, Larry is a mental health conference promoter.  And many times Larry would have Noel talk to his audience about her Lois Lane role in The Adventures of Superman.  The idea of Noel writing a book would soon put him at the helm of the computer keyboard. If a book about Noel would be written, he’d have to do it himself.   He would say to Lee Pecue a radio announcer he did the book “out of desperation”, but we know better. What separates Truth, Justice and the American Way, the Life & Times of Noel Neill, The Original Lois Lane from the rest is you won’t find anything unfavorable to read about anyone. That’s not their style. The book is extremely informative, shedding light on a very talented and humbled “little lady.” Writing about Noel was no easy task. Noel was a child professional dancer and as a result her career starting early.  By the time she did Superman, she had twenty years of experience behind her, including singing at the Del Mar Turf Club, owned by Bing Crosby.   Larry had the difficult task of sorting through numerous volumes of scrap books saved for years by Noel’s mom.

So what can be said about Larry Thomas Ward.  Well, a heck of a lot.  From the time the book was released, Larry and Noel have been touring the country together, signing books to lines spread out beyond the entrance door.  What sets Larry apart from other manager’s is he has taken a great interest in the fans of Noel and George Reeves her second Man of Steel.  Many managers are in it for only the money; they make their appearances and then get out quickly.   Larry is far more generous to Noel’s fans. It wouldn’t be uncommon for Larry to share stories for hours on end and he would commonly share extra goodies with those who’ve expressed a great admiration for Noel. He is the genuine deal, probably inherited from his little town roots.

For this, it is our honor to include Larry Ward into the George Reeves Hall of Fame.
